Stewarding the Land Through Sustainable Gardening

  • Wenatchee River Institute 347 Division St Leavenworth, WA (map)

Come along on a tour of the many gardens on the stewarded land of Wenatchee River Institute. We'll start in the E. Lorene Young Community Garden to learn about how a donated plot of land can turn into a bounty of food for a community. Next, we'll walk the 13-acres that WRI uses for environmental education. Learn about noxious weeds, the benefits of native plants for humans and animals, and how to create a biodiverse native plant Heritage Garden at your own home. Participants will get a noxious weed ID booklet, a list of beautiful, pollinator attracting native plants for the home garden, and a pack of native wildflower seeds to jumpstart your own Heritage Garden.
